Spring has arrived!

After some time since writing, and giving a decent blog post, I shall not be surprised if the hits on this post are dire. I’ve abandoned my readers, and so I am rightly ashamed.

In all honesty I have been quite busy. Not so busy I couldn’t have written a blog post, but when you’re busy with uninteresting things, there’s not much to say. My life trundles along as per usual.

Today though, I will share with you my day. This last week in Dublin has been fairly good. Weather wise, of course. Political scandals, economic dire straights and a whole plethora of other circumstantial problems aside, Ireland has been blessed with some sun for the first time in months. It’s not been particularly warm, with a cool sea breeze keeping Dublin from visiting the shores to emit the eyesore that is our populations’ brightly tinted lilly-white skin.

Myself, my self-destructive knee and my acting chauffer, whose typical role involves being a lovely girlfriend, took to the streets to take some snaps. Not any old streets, oh no. 5 minutes from where we reside is Ireland’s national botanic gardens. A nice Spring day, some cameras and our ability to walk (or hobble in my case) and you have yourself a recipe for blogging!

Old man having a snooze in the gardens

Building works are ongoing in the gardens

Lots of mad botanic creatures await, especially in the HUGE greenhouses

The greenhouses are large, and plentiful

One of the more interesting sections to the gardens is a large central area reserved for more exotic plants, which is constantly kept massively humid, warm, sweaty and slightly uncomfortable. Especially for camera lenses. Though if you do snap off a few decent shots, they can look kind of magical…

No processing here. Raw off the camera. Looks mad, doesn't it? :)

The lens was so wet it slipped, creating this cool "Crysis" (videogame) look

My favourite shot of the day. I wiped the lens in the middle to show the bananas...

Some plants have hugely striking colour schemes..

One of the empty greenhouses has an eery, resident evil, feel from it

And that wraps up my post about the Botanic gardens. That’s enough to keep you all happy, right? Did I earn readers back? I sure hope so…!
I’ll leave you with the below panoramic stitch, and a link to my flickr where these (in bigger resolution) and more photos from todays adventures are kept…
